Pools!
Taupo played host to the Mizuno Half Marathon on Saturday
August 1st. A beautiful, yet crisp day greeted the huge
number of entrants in the event.
DeBretts was a major sponsor of the event, providing 3,500
vouchers which entitled competitors to rest their weary
bodies in their hot pools for half price. The initiative
proved hugely popular with throngs of half marathon
athletes flocking to DeBretts the following day for a well
earned recovery session!
DeBretts Manager Jan Rameka looks forward to doing the same
again next year “It was great to see so many people
from all over the place at the pools in the weekend. We
look forward to being a major sponsor again in 2010”
she said.

Excellence.
Staff at Taupo DeBretts Spa Resort have reason to smile
after receiving the results of a recent audit carried out
on all areas of the business.
On June 29 - 2009 - a revalidation assessment was
undertaken, with its purpose being to determine performance
against a range of key criteria. The audit focused on the
management and staff performance across all aspects of the
business, and included customer focus, monitoring and
measuring, management commitment, planning and ongoing
improvements. The assessment was carried out in accordance
with internationally recognized management systems and
auditing practices.
Telarc SAI Auditor Don Finch said the excellent audit
result was a reward for the quality of service and
dedication shown by staff at DeBretts.
“There were no non conformance issues raised during
the assessment and the performance allowed me to upgrade
the registration to the AS/NSS ISO 9001 2008
Standard”
Debretts, which has been owned by Barry and Carol Kirkland
since 1988, has had this accreditation awarded to the
facility’s hot pools since 2001. In the last two
years the review process has expanded to include all three
areas of the business, the hot pools, the visitor
accommodation, and the health and beauty spa.
Very few tourism businesses have carried out the
accreditation process to the same level, and DeBretts
Manager Jan Rameka believes that by doing so, the business
has a solid framework to work around, to ensure customer
service expectations are met, and when ever possible,
exceeded.
“We operate in an industry where customer
expectations are extremely high. Service excellence and
continual improvement are an important part of the culture
here, and credit must go out to every member of our staff
who helped us achieve this
result”.
The recent accreditation sits alongside the Qualmark rating
DeBretts Spa Resort also has as a four star plus
accommodation provider and endorsed visitor activity.
